Member Benefits

Education

OAR members have access to excellent scientific programs, primarily through the annual meeting held the last full weekend in August in Columbus, Ohio. The annual meeting includes national and local experts covering timely topics affecting the practice of Rheumatology. The meeting includes scientific and advocacy sessions, breakouts for non-physician clinicians and practice managers, and opportunities for trainee participation. CME credit and MOC points are available.

Individuals with a current membership status are able to attend that year’s annual meeting for no additional fee. Membership is promoted during the meeting registration process, but an individual can join OAR at any time by completing the membership application (see PDF version on this webpage.)

Advocacy & Outreach

OAR advocates at the state and federal levels to promote issues involving patient access to care. Policy priorities of OAR include, but are not limited to: improving patient access to affordable prescriptions, increasing pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) transparency, and reforming utilization management protocols. OAR is a coalition member of the Alliance of Affordable and Transparent Prescriptions (ATAP) and works with various ally organizations to improve care for those with rheumatic diseases.

Networking

OAR membership offers networking opportunities with experts and colleagues in the field of rheumatology. Through the annual meeting, advocacy efforts, and physician directory, OAR members have access to rheumatologists and others working in the field of rheumatology in the state of Ohio and beyond.
