Ohio Election Recap

posted: December 11, 2018

The 2018 midterm elections are officially over, with only a few races still undecided. While critics continue to debate whether the 2018 midterm election results resulted in a “blue wave”, all agree that there was no semblance of a blue wave in Ohio.

Republicans swept all but two state-level statewide elected offices in the election. The exceptions were Judges Melody Stewart and Michael Donnelly, who managed to beat their Republican opponents in their state Supreme Court races. In the gubernatorial race, Republican Attorney General Mike DeWine bested Democratic former federal consumer watchdog Richard Cordray.

The OAR will focus on creating strong relationships with new freshman legislators while also strengthening our relationship with returning legislators. OAR members are encouraged to attend OAR Advocacy Day at the Ohio Statehouse on Thursday, April 4, 2018. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak in person with legislators and educate lawmakers on OAR priority issues. Attending Advocacy Day is a crucial step towards building relationships with legislators and increasing awareness of OAR at the Statehouse.
